Guest Designer for Addicted to Stamps

Hi all,

I'm back today as I received a top 3 placement over on the Addicted To Stamps Blog, #174 Lots of Flowers with this card:-

They very kindly asked me to be a Guest DT for the Challenge #176 - CAS Summer Card..
I was thrilled to have a top 3 placement but for them to ask me to be a GDT too I jumped at the chance LOL!

Now here in Australia it's winter and I would love to see the summer sunshine, but alas, I shall just have to look at the card I created and dream LOL!

So as it's a stamping blog/challenge  I opted for the stamp set "Surfs Up"by Simon Says Stamp, and here's my card

I started by stamping the circle image 3 times, and using a stiched circle to die cut it out, the first image I used as my sky, which I created with Distress ink and the mini cloud stencil from MFT.

The second image, was my beach-hill, that I heat embossed with hero Arts - Sand Embossing powder..(and yep it really looks like sand!) My third image was the sea, which I used distress oxide inks and nuvo glitter drops for a bit of sparkle.

I Copic coloured a few images from the set and placed them behind the sand and the sea layers, which I have popped up on one and two layers of foam tape.

Stamped the sentiment from the same set and matted it on black card stock just like the main focal image!

Hope you like my card, and you pop over to Addicted to Stamps and join in with the new challenge #176 - CAS Summer

Altenew - AECP - Level 2 - In the Mood for Colour

Hi all,

I'm back today with another two cards I've created for my AECP - this class was taught by the lovely Stephanie Klauck - 7 lessons all about colour and the mood that each colour makes you feel..

Now, I've never really thought about what colours depict what mood, but after taking these lessons, I can now appreciate that sometimes a sentiment isn't going to match the mood colour of the card...

We know that when we see colours, they can make us feel, very different emotions.. little bit of Psychology going on here with my cards today! Some colours are warm or cool, but each one of those colours has a different mood attached to it.  I'm going with different shades of Blue/Green..cool colours and a hint of Gold for warmth.

So Blue is calm and Green is soothing, and the sentiment I chose for this card also reflects the mood of the card colour too..The hint of Gold (yellow) is for optimism and cheer.

So now we'll look at the process of making this card..

I stamped the Study of Watercolor stamp set on to water colour card stock, with three of the Sea shore collection of inks, to create an ombre effect.

Now I have a tendency to over think my cards and find it quite difficult to produce a card with white space...also I'm quite a perfectionist when it comes to water colouring inside the lines LOL and the thought of letting the paint drip scared me LOL..but I do like the end result...

I added the antique gold ink spray by first spraying it on a piece of vellum and then picking it up with a paint brush for the splatters.

I think the sentiment "I'm just a thought away" matches the mood of this card perfectly!

So for my second card, I've decided to go rainbow...yes full on rainbow for a happy bright birthday card.  I'ts actually for my son who turns 24 this week! so no unicorns or glitter with this rainbow LOL

I've used the "Birthday Bash"stamp set for this one, I stamped the streamers onto white cardstock in bright birthday colours and then filled them in with the same inks. I embossed the sentiment in white on to a piece of vellum and on the back of the vellum I used the same ink colours as before to create a soft ink blend. I stamped the confetti in gold and filled it in with the antique gold ink spray.

The party blower was coloured using my Copic and Altenew alcohol markers.
I love the bright but yet soft feel to this card.

Hope you like these cards, and I know for sure that I will be matching card mood colours with sentiments from now on!

Thanks for stopping by,

Pick a Pattern

Hi guys,

Well if you're like me and hoard paper like it's never going on sale ever again, then this challenge may just be for you!

Over on the Double D challenge blog, this week it's pick a pattern... and I have so much paper that I have been hoarding it was really easy to pick a pattern!

It was really easy to find a stamp set that would go with the pattern, and I'm ashamed to say it but it was the first time I had used this stamp set too!  You know it's one of those that you just have to have on release day and then never play with it LOL...

Any way this is my card for the challenge...

The stamp set is Toucan Do It - by MFT
The paper is by DCWV - Electric Jungle

He's coloured with Copics, and I think he looks right at home there LOL

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you like the card!

I had to just watercolour...

Hi guys,

So you all know by now that I just love to watercolour...well I had to just watercolour that gorgeous digi from Alex Syberia Design... Yes you've seen me play with Prismacolour pencils and Copics, well this time it was Zig real brush markers...

This time I have left the digi image whole and not cut it or erased half of it..
The hardest part was getting the sizing right so that I could fit 4 images on one piece of Bristol smooth paper in my printer...and the printer did not want to play...the Bristol smooth is a little thicker than what it likes, but I did eventually manage to get it printed...YAY, so here it is...

I've used the following Zigs, just in case you want to try it yourself..
Yellow, 051, 050, 055, 052 & 070
Pink 201 & 230
Multi, 055, 201, 029 & 024
Green 041
Leaf 053, 046 & 043
Also used a black fine liner, black, white and stardust gelly roll pen too.
Studio Katia Crystals & Lucy's Little Things - Iced Sherbet
A few splatter of white, black and Gold watercolours too,

Hope you like the card, and hopefully, you'll try this colour combo with this digi, for more digi inspiration please check out Alex's designs here.

Less is more

Morning all,

Well there is a new challenge over on the Less is More blog this week, it has to be one layer and the theme this week is spots! YAY - I won WHOOP WHOOP

Now I thought about doing a leopard or bokeh spots, but those cards had already been done, and I wanted to do something different...

So I searched my filing system (aka Baskets LOL) and couldn't find anything that I particularly liked.. until I searched behind my door in my craft room...I have some DVD storage that I use to store my Old Stampin Up! stamps, and I usally forget all about these, they haven't been played with for a while now...  well this one called "Made with Love" jumped out at me.  It actually comes with polka dot spots in the stamp set... so any way this is the card I made..

I've stamped the deer first in kraft ink, then masked it off and then stamped the onesie in pale pink ink. The spots are in a darker pink.  The sentiment comes from the same set and that has also been stamped in kraft ink.
I coloured the onesie and the deer with my copic markers with minimal shading on the deer, added a rosy chhek and three white spots on his cheek,

I also added just a touch of glitter with my stardust gelly roll pen, well after all this is a baby card teehee.

Considering this is a CAS one layer card, I really rather like it!, hope you do and don't forget to check out the other cards and maybe join in with this challenge!

Make my Monday #99 - Begins with letter B

Happy Monday to you all, and that means it's challenge time again over on the Make my Monday blog! Amy is our lovely host of this challenge.

This challenge is  - begins with the letter B...  Well I thought of a few things that begin with the letter B... Blue Sky ( I'm missing that at the moment as it's winter here in Melbourne) Birds, Butterflies and a Bike... so I've incorporated all of that into my DT card!

Apart from the background everything else is dies, I haven't played much with my dies lately and it was really rather fun to get them out again and play!

The background is MFT cloud and Radiating Rays stencil, and the sentiment is also MFT from the Full of Sunshine set.
The first strip of grass, the tiny birds are also by MFT, the butterflies are by SSS, and the fence, gate and arbour are all by Taylored Expressions. The second strip of grass a Lawn Fawn die, and the bike I'm not sure on as I've lost my packaging for that..

I coloured the bike with Copics and then went over it with nuvo mousse to give it a bit of shine, and added a few black pearls.  The fence, gate and arbour I ran through an embossing folder to give it a bit of dimension!

Hope you like the card, and hopefully you'll come and join us at Make My Monday! Here's a couple more photo's!

Thanks for stopping by!
