Make My Monday #105 - Colour Challenge

Hi all,

I'm here today as it's time for the Make My Monday Challenge #104, This challenge has been chosen by ME, TeeHee.... And my challenge is going to be a colour challenge! Here's my card...

This gorgeous stamp called "Endless Potential"  is by an Australian Company based in South Australia, called Uniquely Creative, They are a new favourite of mine LOL.

Anyway here is the colour pallete I choose

Were in Spring here in Australia, and I just love these colours and flowers LOL

I stamped the image in black waterproof ink, as I wanted to try out the Arteza real brush pens. (very similar to the Zig real brush pens for watercolouring)  There is a slight difference between the Zig and Arteza mainly the size of the brush tip and Arteza have a few more colours.

The Sentiment is by Clearly Besotted, I really love that font!  I've added a couple of gems to the middle of the flowers and a wee bit of sparkle to complete my card!

New Watercolour paper...

Hi all,

Well, I thought I would try some more expensive watercolour paper, this one came in a pack of 10 cards with envelopes.. but I cut it down to make 20 Panels LOL..

I should really have tested this paper first before I dived in with my Zigs and my Prima watercolor confections - Decedant Pies, paints, as It didn't behave the way my Canson paper does...and I gave up a couple of times and then went back to it..

You see I wanted to join in with "The Flower Challenge" the theme this month is pastels.. I stamped my card in Ink on 3 Fade out and just one flower (the main one) in archival ink.

All the flowers and even the sentiment stamp are by Altenew, and after masking this little lot off and diving in with my paints, when I finished it, I didn't like it... I came back to it today and it looks a little better than what it did, but I think it's the lines in the paper that I don't like and the fact that I have left it loose, and washed out and not put more details into it, like I normally do ??... anyhow I added the gems & sequins and I'll enter it into the challenge...LOL

I shall be entering this into The Flower Challenge #34 Pretty Pastels

And maybe #SSSigchallenge if it's still watercoloring ?  I'm not sure if there's a new challenge or not LOL

Altenew - AECP - Level 2 - In the Mood for Colour

Hi all,

I'm back today with another two cards I've created for my AECP - this class was taught by the lovely Stephanie Klauck - 7 lessons all about colour and the mood that each colour makes you feel..

Now, I've never really thought about what colours depict what mood, but after taking these lessons, I can now appreciate that sometimes a sentiment isn't going to match the mood colour of the card...

We know that when we see colours, they can make us feel, very different emotions.. little bit of Psychology going on here with my cards today! Some colours are warm or cool, but each one of those colours has a different mood attached to it.  I'm going with different shades of Blue/Green..cool colours and a hint of Gold for warmth.

So Blue is calm and Green is soothing, and the sentiment I chose for this card also reflects the mood of the card colour too..The hint of Gold (yellow) is for optimism and cheer.

So now we'll look at the process of making this card.. 

I stamped the Study of Watercolor stamp set on to water colour card stock, with three of the Sea shore collection of inks, to create an ombre effect.

Now I have a tendency to over think my cards and find it quite difficult to produce a card with white space...also I'm quite a perfectionist when it comes to water colouring inside the lines LOL and the thought of letting the paint drip scared me LOL..but I do like the end result...

I added the antique gold ink spray by first spraying it on a piece of vellum and then picking it up with a paint brush for the splatters.

I think the sentiment "I'm just a thought away" matches the mood of this card perfectly!

So for my second card, I've decided to go rainbow...yes full on rainbow for a happy bright birthday card.  I'ts actually for my son who turns 24 this week! so no unicorns or glitter with this rainbow LOL

I've used the "Birthday Bash"stamp set for this one, I stamped the streamers onto white cardstock in bright birthday colours and then filled them in with the same inks. I embossed the sentiment in white on to a piece of vellum and on the back of the vellum I used the same ink colours as before to create a soft ink blend. I stamped the confetti in gold and filled it in with the antique gold ink spray.

The party blower was coloured using my Copic and Altenew alcohol markers.

I love the bright but yet soft feel to this card.

I had to just watercolour...

Hi guys,

So you all know by now that I just love to watercolour...well I had to just watercolour that gorgeous digi from Alex Syberia Design... Yes you've seen me play with Prismacolour pencils and Copics, well this time it was Zig real brush markers...

This time I have left the digi image whole and not cut it or erased half of it..
The hardest part was getting the sizing right so that I could fit 4 images on one piece of Bristol smooth paper in my printer...and the printer did not want to play...the Bristol smooth is a little thicker than what it likes, but I did eventually manage to get it printed...YAY, so here it is...

I've used the following Zigs, just in case you want to try it yourself..

Yellow, 051, 050, 055, 052 & 070

Pink 201 & 230

Multi, 055, 201, 029 & 024

Green 041

Leaf 053, 046 & 043

Also used a black fine liner, black, white and stardust gelly roll pen too.

A few splatter of white, black and Gold watercolours too,

New paint brushes

Hi guys,

I received some happy mail from the postie today, I've been waiting for these new brushes to land for a while now... and along with them, my freebie Daniel Smith dot card - David Bellamy Palette.  I do love these dot cards I can try the colours out and see what I like, but there's also lots of paint on them too, enough for a few cards!

So I bought a couple of Escoda Reserva brushes a "0" from the series 1212 and a "2" from the series 1214 The "2" brush is actually a travel brush with a gold metal handle.  I liked the "0" as i can get some really fine lines with it, I'm still unsure on the "2".. I actually went back to my Silver "4" brush for the background of this card...

It was a good opportunity to break out the SSS - Delicate Flowers set to try out these new brushes and paint dot cards!

I've added some splatters and some gold sparkle but it's a little hard to pick up on camera!

Less is More

HI all,

"Less is more"have a colour challenge up on their blog that runs until the 21st of June, so I had to be quick with this one!

So I decided to use my Simon Says Stamp - Delicate Flowers set, and this is the card I made.

This has been stamped in Stormy Sky distress oxide, and I've water coloured this with Zig markers on Bristol smooth paper in just two colours. I wanted the leaves to run a little to create a small shadow so that the lines looked soft.

Pretty Pink Posh - Water coloured card

Hi all,

I'm back today sharing a water coloured card using the Wild Rose Stamp set by Pretty Pink Posh..

I'd bought this a while ago (probably over 6 months ago) and I'd never used it...until today...I found it lurking at the back of my stamp filing system ( that sounds better than a plastic basket LOL)

Anyway this is the card...

I've stamped this on to Canson XL water colour paper, with hybrid ink and I used the Prima Confections water colour paints.  I used the following sets:-

• Decedant Pies - Guava, Apple, Keylime 
• Odyssey - Tokyo, Rome
• Woodlands - Foxberry, Mist and Sandridge for the shadows outside of the flower and leaves.
• Essence - Adore, Nivaria

And a few paint splatters, of Rome, White Gouache and Kuretake Pearl, Red Gold.

I finished the middles of the flowers off with the Stardust Gelly Roll Pen

The sentiment is also Pretty Pink Posh from the Love sentiments stamp set.

I'm entering this into the Happy Little Stampers June Watercolour challenge - Anything goes + optional Love.

Altenew - AECP - Level 2 - With a Twist

Hi all,  I'm back today with another two cards, for my AECP level 2, this was such a fun class, six lessons  hosted by Therese Calvird.

With a Twist, is all about having fun with your supplies, getting more out of them, cutting on a weird angle and maybe stepping out of you're comfort zone!

So my first card is based upon the idea of getting more out of your supplies...you know the ones that we only use now and again......

I'm using the Altenew Shattered triangle for my first card...

So other than using this set for a masculine card... I've not really used it that much...until now..from now on this set has been re-purposed.. its now a conical wall hanging basket...Yes you read that right...its a wall hanging basket, full of green foliage and flowers!.. lets take a look at the card...

I've used the Doodle Blooms stamp and die set for my flowers and foliage, and coloured them with Altenew Alcohol Markers, in just three colours G702, R403 and Y204 .. I've even shaped the baskets by adding two pieces of foam tape in the middle and one piece on either side of the basket.. so it looks 3D..

I also added some brown sisal, to look like moss...I didn't want my flowers to dry out now did I LOL.

OK, so lets have a look at my second card... the twist with this one is that  I've fussy cut it on a angle... and to get that angle right, I've draw in a diagonal pencil line from top right to bottom left.. 

Yep...it looks like a hot mess... I know... but just wait....till you see...

Now doesn't that look pretty!

I've coloured this one with Zig markers as I stamped it on to Bristol Smooth card stock and Bristol smooth will tolerate a small amount of water...

As you can see I've fussy cut the image..

Now I didn't want to waste the rest of the paper, so I distress ink blended it with Tattered Rose and Antique linen.. Die cut it with a stitched rectangle.  I've mounted this on not one but two pieces of fun foam... I really wanted it to stand out and give it some dimension, and I've added some water droplets..the inspiration for the water droplets...came from outside as it's been pouring down where I live...LOL.  The thank you sentiment was too large so I had to stamp the "thank" and mask off the "you" and then position the you underneath and then mask off the "thank" bit..

Hope I've given you inspiration to re-purpose some of those crafting supplies, or to take this class!
